My name is Ndeye Fatou Diop, and I am a Frontend developer from Senegal πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡³, living in France πŸ‡«πŸ‡·.

My non-linear journey with Frontend development started in 2014:

  • in 2014, I interned at a company using WordPress β‡’ this introduced me to Web Development

  • 2014 - 2018: while in college, I learned basic Web Development and applied it to small projects. I could do basic HTML, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, Django, etc...

  • June 2018 - June 2020: I worked as a Software Engineer with Python, Spark, etc.. and occasionally with Javascript

  • Since June 2020, I have been working full-time as a FE engineer

Sadly, until 2019, I couldn't level up my JS skills and understand why the JS ecosystem was so complex 😒. I tested different learning platforms (Codeacademy, Treehouse, Udemy) but was unsuccessful.

Then, I stumbled across the YDNJS book series and FrontendMasters, which immensely helped me. They also made me realize my biggest mistake: I didn't know the fundamentals. Because I was self-learned, I didn't take the time to master the basics, and as a result, a lot of things look like magic πŸ§™πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ to me.

I don't want other people to make the same mistakes. That is why I created this blog to help overwhelmed junior frontend devs reach the next level in their career faster. I want you to know why some technologies exist (CSS, React, Typescript, etc.), and what you need to know about them.

If you are learning Web Development and feel overwhelmed, join me on this journey πŸ₯³.
